Little Misha (sitting on the left) is growing up quickly. He is now almost 15. I remember how long it took for him to open up during our first summer camp with these children almost five years ago. Toward the end of our week together he was playful, cooperative, and full of sweet smiles. When we were leaving the camp that summer it broke my heart to see him curled up on a bench crying uncontrollably--he didn't want our time together to end. At times Misha can be full of mischief and regularly gets in fist fights with the other children in the orphanage. He can display an indifference and toughness; however, this week it was a blessing to see him sit peacefully and attentively as the camp counselors talked. Each of these children long to be loved. It has been my prayer that he would know the Lord is with Him always and that he is never left alone.
For several years now we have gone back to visit these children. Each time our prayer was to help build a foundation for their future on Truth. May these boys recall God's Word proclaimed in many ways during the week. May Truth become a part of their mindset and may the Holy Spirit use it to bring them into an intimate relationship with God.
