Dear Friends,
Dobrey Ootra! (Good morning!)
We had a wonderful evening program last night. During the small group time we talked with the young girls about how to become a daughter of the King of Kings. Many of them prayed to receive the gift freely given by our Lord Jesus Christ. It was a very precious time.
We also heard from one of the young girls who attended a prevous year's camp. Some time during the year she prayed for repentence and to recieve Christ on her own. She remembered how to pray for salvation from listening during the time she spent in the camp. She told us that she has seen the difference in her life and that she continues to pray and learn more about the bible. It was so moving to hear of how the Lord revealed Himself to her in her prayers. I had an opportunity to talk one-on-one with her about keeping a prayer journal to record the faithfulness of God in her life so she can look back and reflect on His character and goodness in moments when feeling discouraged. God is always at work--may we each trust that His promises are true for each of us.
This afternoon we will have sports, crafts and music stations at the orphanage. Then later this evening we will have a New Year's celebration. We plan to talk more about how God has uniquely created each of them and even how he has given each a special role as men and women. This is the most important holiday in Russia. For many years during the Soviet era they did not celebrate Christmas. We hope the children will understand what it means to have a new life and will celebrate the promises of the year to come through a relationship with our Lord and Savior.
Everyone is doing quite well. They are some minor stomach issues that we would ask you to lift up in prayer. Also for strength and the words to speak to the children.
Happy New Year to you all!
Ruch Blessings,
Christina
